Communication Skills

Essential skills including an understanding of push/pull dynamics and how this can be explored through listening and assertiveness skills. Influencing skills at both individual and group level. Introducing the notion of the 'influencing space' and how to attract others into it so as to create leverage for new possibilities. Understanding different communication styles and learning how to adapt one's own style. Revisting feedback skills and learning how to make a positive feedback culture. Courageous Conversations: Introducing a tried and tested communication model that challenges whilst creating positive working relationships. Moving into dialogue dynamics and developing an understanding of how to spot what needs to be contributed to group discussion so as to create balanced and productive dialogue. Building trust at organizational and individual levels. Learning about openness and authenticity in communication. Generating a sense of 'holding' the space such that others feel confident to communicate openly.

Accredited in the Saville Wave personal assessment tool and is a certified Belbin team roles trainer. He trained in Dialogue with William Isaacs from the Sloan School of Management in the USA and ran Dialogue and Tough Talking workshops over a four year period at the Cranfield School of Management in the UK. He is also an advanced level mediator, helping to resolve workplace conflict.
