Conflict Management

To provide experienced managers with dispute resolution tools and techniques in order to support their professionalism and effectiveness in resolving disputes in the workplace. This will be a 2-day workshop entailing a mix of information sharing and interactive practice. It will involve interactive exercises, discussion and role-play. Mediation skills will be highlighted in so far as they are generic for all dispute resolution processes. Completion of Thomas Kilmann conflict models inventory with personalized report provided on day 1 of the programme . Introducing a range of dispute resolution processes and what they entail The nature and dynamics of conflict escalation and an introduction to a dispute resolution process framework as a diagnostic tool .

  • Use a dispute resolution process framework to enhance their effectiveness at any point in the resolution process
  • Select and apply a range of different tools and techniques to help disputants come to agreement
  • Recognise what can give rise to difficult behaviour and how they can best respond to it and manage it
  • Give effective feedback within the conflict management process
  • Influence positive outcomes and agreements through their own enhanced skills

Accredited in the Saville Wave personal assessment tool and is a certified Belbin team roles trainer. He trained in Dialogue with William Isaacs from the Sloan School of Management in the USA and ran Dialogue and Tough Talking workshops over a four year period at the Cranfield School of Management in the UK. He is also an advanced level mediator, helping to resolve workplace conflict.
