The concept of strategic HR tends to draw quite a bit of criticism, often by people who do not understand what it means. Performed effectively, a strategic approach to HR can have a profound impact on the function's impact in an organisation, and looks very different to a more operational approach too. Strategic HR demands new tools and skills but above all else it requires a new perspective. This involves understanding that there is choice, HR can be performed in very different ways.
